Superior Honored with Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve 'Above and Beyond' Award
New Orleans, LA - August 5, 2009 - On July 22, 2009 in New Orleans, LA, Superior Energy Services accepted the 'Above and Beyond' award from the Secretary of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. This award recognizes employers who provide outstanding support for military employees.
More than 2,000 members of the National Guard and Reserves and their families nominated their employers for their support of military employees.
"I nominated Superior because of the unbelievable way they treated me when I was recalled back into active service for a deployment to Iraq," said Chris Cannon, Superior Energy Services employee and a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. "This company bent over backward to let me know they appreciated my service. They even flew a Marine Corps flag at our corporate office to show their support of me when I was recalled. It really touched me to work for a company that supported me that much. I want other people out there to know what a great company Superior is to work for and how important people are to them."
This awards program began in 1996 under the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency meant to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the law and resolving conflicts through informal mediation.
"We are honored by this award," said Ken Blanchard, Superior President and Chief Operating Officer. "We sincerely appreciate our military employees and recognize the importance of their commitment to this country and this company."
All five branches of the United States Military are represented across Superior.
